A different approach to AI-ready large files

Big files.
Smaller problems.

Chunky Files is developing a way to make very large files easier to move into AI and other processing workflows — breaking them into manageable, verifiable pieces while preserving the ability to recover and continue.

The problem

Your file is ready. The AI platform isn't.

AI tools are increasingly useful for analysing and working with real projects, but very large source files can be awkward or impossible to submit as one conventional upload. Chunky Files is exploring a practical transport layer between large local files and AI workflows.

01

AI upload limits get in the way

A useful AI workflow can stop before it starts when the source file is too large for a conventional upload path.

02

File sizes are accelerating

4K and 8K video, game assets, AI datasets, archives and production masters continue to increase the amount of data people need to move.

03

Move data for processing

The goal is not simply another cloud drive. Chunky Files is being developed to help large source data reach AI and processing workflows in manageable pieces.

Why now?

We're creating more data than ever.

The problem isn't standing still. Higher-resolution media, larger software projects, AI workloads and distributed teams are increasing both file size and the frequency with which large assets need to move.

Video keeps growing 4K, 8K, raw footage and production masters create enormous transfer jobs.
AI is data hungry Training, development and model workflows can involve very large datasets and assets.
Teams are distributed People increasingly need to move working files between locations, collaborators and systems.
The bottleneck matters As files grow, reliability and recovery become increasingly important parts of the transfer experience.
The Chunky Files approach

Split. Move. Verify. Rebuild.

Rather than asking an AI or processing workflow to receive one enormous conventional upload, Chunky Files is being designed around smaller independently manageable pieces that can be verified and made useful downstream.

1

Split

The source file is divided into manageable chunks before transfer.

2

Move & verify

Chunks can be transferred and checked independently as the job progresses.

3

Rebuild

The verified pieces are reconstructed into the original file at the destination.

The design objective

Large-file access first. Recovery built in.

The primary objective is making very large source files practical for AI and processing workflows. Because the architecture works in independently verifiable pieces, resumability and recovery can come with it rather than being the whole product story.

What we're building toward

A bridge between huge files and useful AI workflows.

The user should choose the source and destination, not manage chunks. Chunky Files should handle the transport complexity while AI and processing tools receive data in a form the workflow can actually use.

↗

Simple transfer

Select the large source file and let Chunky Files manage the pieces behind the scenes.

✓

Verification

Check transferred pieces so the reconstructed destination file can be validated.

↻

Recovery

Design for interruption without assuming every problem requires starting from zero.

⚙

Automation

Develop toward tools and APIs that can fit into professional workflows.

⇄

Flexible destinations

Build toward moving data between the places people and businesses actually use.

∞

Scale

Create an architecture capable of tackling increasingly large transfer jobs.

Where it could help

A growing problem across growing markets.

We're starting with the underlying transfer problem rather than limiting Chunky Files to a single industry.

Video & film

Raw footage, masters, edits and production archives.

Games & creative production

Large project builds, assets and collaboration files.

Business & enterprise

Archives, backups, datasets and operational assets.

AI & data

Large datasets, media, archives and source material that need to become usable by AI workflows.

Built from a real problem

We're building from evidence, not hype.

Chunky Files began with a straightforward frustration: getting very large files into modern AI and processing workflows should be easier. We're developing the transport concept, testing the technology and validating exactly where it can create the most value.

Chunky Files

Big files aren't getting smaller.

We're building Chunky Files to make moving them less painful. Follow the project as we develop and test the idea.

Live prototype

Try Chunky Files in your browser.

Select a file that represents source material you might want to send into an AI workflow. This first prototype proves that Chunky Files can read and verify it piece by piece without one giant upload. You can also interrupt and resume the process. Your file never leaves this device in this prototype.

Ready.

Prototype demo: your file is processed locally and is not uploaded. Destination transfers shown here are the next stage of development.
